Samuel Spreyz
Biografie:
How can one depict queer sexuality? This is the question that Samuel Spreyz, an award winning photography graduate from ECAL/University of art and design Lausanne, has asked himself throughout this work. Influenced by queer writers and gay culture, Samuel explores contemporary societal topics. His visual essays deconstruct masculinity and sexuality, depicting the daily challenges of queer communities. Samuel’s work fuses photographic genres, with striking and graphic imagery that has been featured in various publications such as OFFLINE, Novembre Magazine and WWD. He will present his newest series MSM.Rx in this year’s edition of photoSCHWEIZ.
Werkbeschrieb:
MSM.Rx Are cis gay men forever trapped in the medical system? Like lustful replicants under the grip of chemicals, these males are in the midst of a new sexual revolution - a revolution fueled by legal drugs. To liberate their sexuality, they have to become long term patients, catalyzing their use of the medical apparatus. MSM.Rx explores this era through a visual essay, a fusion between drugs, steamy parties and consensual hardcore practices.
